IFIP Working Group Chair: Generic Job Description Approved by Technical Assembly February 29th 2004 Adopted by Technical Committee 12 March 14th 2004 APPOINTMENT The Chair of a Working Group (WG) shall be appointed by the Chair of the parent Technical Committee (TC) on the recommendation of the TC. The Chair shall serve for a term of three years and may be reappointed for one additional term. The appointment of WG Chairs may be terminated by the TC Chair on the recommendation of the TC. APPOINTS The WG Chair may designate a Vice-Chair and a Secretary with the approval of the WG. The Vice-Chair shall serve for a term of three years and may be reappointed for one additional term. The term of office for Secretaries is three years, which may be renewed without any limitation. RESPONSIBILITIES (1) To co-ordinate the activities undertaken by the Working Group in pursuit of its approved Aims and Scope. (2) To serve as an ex officio member of the parent TC for the duration of his/her term of office, with full voting rights. (3) To keep the membership of the WG under review and initiate changes through the TC Chair where necessary. (4) To maintain a register of members of the WG. (5) To keep the Aims and Scope of the WG under review and where necessary recommend changes to the TC. (6) To develop an ongoing programme of events for the Working Group in collaboration with the WG members. (7) To discuss progress and future plans with WG members at least once each year. (8) To ensure that an up to date website is maintained of information about the Working Group and its activities. (9) To make proposals to the TC for the creation or dissolution of a Special Interest Group of the Working Group, as appropriate. (10) To make a written report on the activities of the WG to each meeting of the TC. (11) To co-ordinate the publication of proceedings of Working Group events, in collaboration with the TC Chair. (12) To foster collaboration with other WGs and organise joint events where appropriate.
